Upper Deck Entertainment Creates League Program Exclusively for Hobby Stores
With an eye on creating the most enjoyable, competitive gameplay environment
possible while supporting hobby stores, Upper Deck Entertainment (UDE) has
created an all-inclusive league in a box. The UDE Hobby League is designed for
store owners and players that are new to UDE's organized play programs, as well
as for veterans.
The UDE Hobby League program, which will be offered exclusively to hobby and
gaming stores, features unique promotional cards and the opportunity to win
several other prizes, including X-Box and PlayStation 2 game systems, Alienware
computers and iPods. Hobby league organizers can also win prizes, including a
$10,000 store renovation from Home Depot.
Each Hobby League kit will include full-color posters, scorecards, prize cards,
gameplay information and enough game materials for one month of league play.
The Vs. System trading card game (TCG) kits, featuring the Marvel Origins set,
will be available for order in July for an August 1 launch date. The Hobby League
program will be offered for all of the major UDE trading card games.
"This program is perfect for the hobby store owner that is looking to
increase attendance in his or her store," said Jeff Donais, Director of the
Game Development Group for UDE. "The UDE Hobby League is designed to help
hobby stores provide a value to their customers that they can't receive anywhere
else."
